Placement Schemes

Design education has always had close links with business, design students and graduates often develop the specific skills they need to be successful in business as a result of commercial experience. A number of the Design Schools in the London region include specific 'work placement' or 'sandwich schemes' within their programmes of study. These have considerable benefits for the students, who gain a distinct advantage from working for up to a year in industry. These Design Schools will have staff and support available to manage all aspects of the process from initial enquiries to advising on salaries and contracts of employment.

Employers also benefit from well motivated, bright students, who are able to work for relatively low costs to the company. Successful placement students are often employed by the same company when they graduate, further reducing risk and recruitment costs for the company.

Design students are also often very keen to work during the summer vacation period and the same support staff within Design Schools will usually be able to support organising this type of short term placement too.
